Peace, love, and nature.

Namaste.

I need your lovin’, like the sunshine…

I am excited and honored to announce that I have been nominated for my second bog award! In addition to basking in the rays from the Sunshine Award, I am now feeling the love of the Liebster! My sincere thanks to dear Stella, for the warm nomination. I respect you and am deeply moved by your posts, and am certainly sending the love back at ya!

So the rules this time are that I have to answer 10 random questions from the person who nominated me. Here goes:

1. Why did you start blogging?

I started this blog as part of an English Writing course I was taking in college. I used it for my assignments and tried to network a bit in the blogging world. Then I used it as a journal when I was studying abroad, and eventually abandoned it. I revisited and reinvented it starting from this New Year, as one of my resolutions. I even tried to do Daily Prompts and attempted the Zero-To-Hero challenge, which definitely helped invigorate my blogging.

2. What is your favorite quote?

I have so many. “Everything happens for a reason.” “When a door closes, a window opens.” “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.” I think these are among my top ones, and you can probably tell there’s a theme here.

3. If i told you that you had to perform in a talent show tomorrow, what would you use as your talent?

Dance. Maybe even improv dance.

4. What is at the top of your bucket list of things to do before you die?

Again, so many…Change someone’s life for the better. Become a holistic practitioner. Travel to all 7 continents. Mother a child.

5. Who is your hero/mentor in your life?

The Nanny.  As for non-fictional people: Paulo Coelho; Joshua Rosenthal; Alicia Silverstone.

6. What is your favorite season?

Spring.

7. Do you have any pets?

Yes, a Persian smoky-colored fluffy cat.

8. What is your sign and do you believe in horoscopes?

Pisces; to an extent. I think there is truth behind the patterns and compatibility, but there are exceptions to every rule.

9. If you could have one superpower, what would it be?

To heal people.

10. Where do you do most of your writing?

On my laptop, at the kitchen table. Or whenever I can sneak it in at work.

And, to spread the love, the Liebster awardees have to nominate 10 blogs with less than 200 followers. Here are my nominees:

Let's Reach Success

“Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a harder battle.”
Plato

When was the last time you did a good deed? Without expecting anything in return? Just like that…

If you don’t remember, I’m afraid you’ve drifted apart from the real human nature. You’ve fallen into the trap of today’s society and have come to the point where you do good to someone only when you want something back or have other stimulus to do so.

But if you do, you certainly remember the incredible feelings you get after that. Because that is what good means in its original meaning. That is how our soul and mind work when not affected by outer temptations and tendencies like consumerism and egoism. That is how we were meant to communicate with one another – by doing good, being kind, helping whenever we can and never expecting anything in return.

By being…

Inspire

LAStateofMinE

Pick a word.

Pick a word that inspires you, motivates you, reminds you of your strength and what you want to be. Make it a word that holds power and meaning for you. Identify with it and live it. Take that word and be it. Let it describe who you are right now and how you want to be remembered.

And then scream it to the world.

Graffiti your life with your word. Write it on post-it notes that are stuck around your home. Set it as your desktop background. Wear it on a shirt, a button, a necklace. Find a song about that word, a poem, an image and absorb it everyday. If we surround ourselves with reminders of our chosen word we will soon believe that we are that word and gather strength every time we see those letters. Fake it until you make it.

What a difference a day makes

What if you only had a day left to live? How would you spend your last 24 hours? What would be the items on your bucket list that you could tackle in a day? Would you be concerned with regrets or qualms that have weighed you down? How difficult would it be to resolve some of these issues? Who would miss you the next day? Who would you want to know that you love them?

These are all questions that have crossed our minds in some format or another. For even while we live, we are aware that we are mortal and death is inextricably connected to all living things. Even if one day in our lives may seem uneventful or insignificant, it is one more day that we have at our disposal. We do not live in the past or in the future; we live in the moment, and each moment is precious. Although breathing is an involuntary function that is most often taken for granted, we should in fact be grateful for each breath we take. We need to take time out of every day to revel in the fact that we are alive, that someone cares about us, that our presence has made a difference to someone today.

It has been said that the three hardest things in life to say are: “I love you”, “I’m sorry”, and “Help me.” We shouldn’t let our regrets or fears plague us. If there are relationships in our lives that are toxic or unresolved, they need to be dealt with rather than swept under the rug for tomorrow. If you were wrong, apologize; if you were hurt, allow yourself to accept it so that you can heal;  if you need help, ask for support; if you want to tell someone how you feel, do it. Put yourself out there, no matter how vulnerable, because each moment is precious, and you don’t know if you will get another chance to express yourself. How would you feel if the person is gone the next day, and never got to know how you felt? Fear of rejection and pride often stop us from having fulfilling relationships. But you may be surprised (although you shouldn’t be) to learn that other people have the same kind of fears, problems, and hopes as you. Reaching out may be easier than you think, and saying things out loud to someone puts you on the path to acquiring what you are feeling. The point is, unless you try, you won’t know, and the road not taken can haunt your subconscious and manifest itself in the most unexpected ways.

We have today, and that is all we know. So today, say what you mean and mean what you say, because life is too short to leave things for tomorrow.
