Who are you? New Year’s Resolution

Daily Prompt

Tomorrow is the first day of a brand new year. Tomorrow you get to become anyone in the world that you wish. Who are you?

The more I have pondered, the more I have come to the conclusion that there are two types of people in this world: the wishers and the doers. The phrase “walk the talk” also sums this theory up. Some people think, dream, talk about doing things. The other type goes out and does it. Which do you want to be?

Up until now, I have done everything that was laid out for me: by my parents, teachers, friends, bosses… Now having graduated with a professional degree, I realize that I do not like the field of work I am in. I don’t like that everything in America is a business; everything is about money…and the system doesn’t make people healthy or happy. Money does not equal happiness. Happiness should be a part of every action taken; not an end result that is always sought but somehow never quite achieved. And at the end of the day, I am not satisfied with my accomplishments, even if I have a paper to prove my worth.

This year, I want to make time to soul search and find something I am good at, something that I can contribute to society in a positive way. I don’t want to be part of a flawed system; I want to help build a new system that I am proud to be a part of. But most of all, besides wanting, I want to take action. I want to be a doer. I will dedicate a part of each day to work on myself, and try different things until I find something that resonates with me. Until I find it.

For now, I will write in this blog. If not 365 days for the next year, I will write an extensive post at least once a week for a 52-week blog. For the the next month, I will take up the Zero to Hero challenge.

Have a Happy and Healthy New Year to everyone who has stumbled upon this page and read this thing!!
